This document describes the steps that should be taken to postpone a quiz. This applies to classes with quizzes, namely ECS170 and ECS132.
When this happens, Iāll send an email to the TAs that goes something like this:
Hi folks,
We need to postpone Quiz <quiz-number> from <original-date> to <new-date>.
Could you please follow steps 3-5 at the link below:
https://g-simmons.github.io/gabe-simmons-teaching-wiki/For_TAs/postponing_a_quiz
Please skip step 1 and 2, I'll make the announcement and update the course site.
Best,
Gabe
Step 1. Update the course website
Iāll typically do this.
Step 2. Make a Canvas announcement
Hereās an announcement template you can use:
Hi folks,
Quiz <quiz-number>, originally scheduled for <original-date> will now take place on <new-date>.
If you have information about the new quiz topics, you can include that in the announcement.
Step 3. Reassign discussion schedules if needed (optional)
We typically try to keep the number of quiz and non-quiz discussions the same between TAs, unless there is reason to do otherwise.
If a quiz gets postponed, this can upset the balance.
By default, +/-1 quiz is assumed to be not a big deal, and everyone keeps their discussion slots the same. But if for some reason you would prefer to switch, you can initiate this conversation with the other TAs in the class.
I am open to feedback on this policy.
Step 4. Update the quiz date in the SDC portal
See this page or search this site for āRemote Quizā.
Step 5. Update remote quizzes (if any)
