For most classes with TAs, I hold a weekly meeting. This is a checklist that we need to cover during each meeting. It’s very helpful if you can check the status of these items prior to our weekly meeting.

  • If this class has a group project, do all students belong to a group?
  • Is the gradebook in order? As of Fall Quarter 2024, for ECS170 and ECS188, the source of truth for the gradebook is the “Grades” assignment on GitHub classroom.
    • If grades have been released for a group assignment, do all students have grades for that assignment in the gradebook?
  • Go through the major assignment categories for the class and see if they’re on track

      • Do students have access to Zybooks?
    • Homework
    • This Week’s Quizzes
      • SDC upload
      • In-person
      • Lockdown browser
    • Past Quizzes
      • Have past quizzes been graded? How many are left ungraded?
      • Have grades for the past quizzes been released? Which quizzes have been graded but without grades released?
      • Are there any regrade requests? Are you unsure how to handle any regrade requests?
    • Project
      • If students have submitted a project proposal:
        • How many project proposals have been graded?
        • Are there any common patterns among project proposals?
      • If the project has a peer feedback component:
        • Has the peer feedback assignment been created?
        • Have students submitted peer feedbacks?
        • Have peer feedbacks been graded?
    • Reflections
    • Student Presentations
      • Has a signup form been released for student presentations?
      • How many groups have signed up? Are there any groups that have not yet signed up?
    • Student Presentation Rehearsals
    • Midterms
    • Finals
  • Check how last week’s discussion went
  • Check on grading progress
  • Check on student feedback/questions
  • Are there any new policy decisions that need to be made? Have students asked you about a course policy item that is not handled by the course info page on this site?
  • Has your workload been appropriate so far? Do you feel overworked? Do you have a heavy workload coming up in other parts of your life? Would it be useful to swap responsibilities with another TA, or make other adjustments?
  • Do you have any unexpected work/absence/other items coming up? If so,
    • Will your ability to attend our weekly meeting be impacted?
    • Will grading be impacted?
