Can I present in one of your classes?
I usually say yes. If you are a UC Davis student presenting to promote university-related organization or initiative, yes. If you are a UC Davis student promoting a personal project or other non-affiliated organization or initiative, maybe.
What should I do when presenting?
- Please arrive early, at least 5 minutes before the start of lecture.
- On dates without an exam, you may use up to 1 minute of lecture time to make the presentation.
- Be prepared to make a compelling presentation without using the projector (see below).
Can I use the mic?
Yes.
Search this site for “Microphone Placement” for tips on how to not hurt everyone’s ears :)
Will you show my slide while I present?
No.
Can I use the projector myself?
I would prefer not.
Which of your classes can I present in?
Class | Can you present? |
---|---|
ECS188 | No. You probably don’t want to anyway, as the class size is only 30 students. |
ECS132 | Yes. |
ECS170 | Yes. |
Other classes with large (100+ student) lectures | Usually yes. |
When and where are your classes?
You can find the answer to this question using SISWEB or Schedule Builder.
Are there dates that I should avoid?
- Campus holidays
- The Wednesday before Thanksgiving Holiday
Can you make an announcement on Canvas about my thing?
Maybe. I decide this on a case-by-case basis. Usually this comes down to how busy I feel and how straightforward it is for me to share your content.
I will be more inclined to say yes if you can provide a brief, factual, plain text message that I can copy and paste as an announcement.
I will be less inclined to say yes if your announcement involves media, if it’s long, or if it’s overly sensational.
